The Colors of (un)Love

We've been given this paper of ivory,
the problem wasn't that
we lacked creativity
or had a limited supply
of colors to choose between.
Quite the contrary,
we have an abundance of
hot magenta or aquamarine
peach or plum or tangerine.
I know this for a fact
because we've had bold explosions
in the past,
the problem was that
you and I
just fought over
the mystic grey and
night black,
and we poured ourselves empty
of everything that was dark
and now I want a redo
so I wont let go of lavender,
sunglow or pacific blue-
colors that deserve to be flowing
through and through
but we have blocked their way
with a build up of residual attitude.
I want to re-color what
we've made dark and gloomy,
I want to replace the danger of grey clouds
with a magnificently lit full moon,
I desperately yearn to rip this up,
and try to start anew,
but there are no second chances
just new days tainted by the sunburn
of old habits.
